Meet the Boys of Buddy’s Alpaca Farm
Welcome to the Buddy's Alpaca Farm blog! Here we'll share what's happening on the farm, stories from the herd, alpaca bean news for the gardeners, and when you can come visit. Let's start with the stars of the show: our seven boys.
First, a fun bit of history. The farm is named after my grandfather, Buddy. When we went looking for our foundation herd in 2021, one of the five alpacas we fell for was already named Buddy. We took it as a sign.
MEET THE HERD
Buddy (Clover's Bud) is our littlest guy, and he knows it. He's gentle and sweet, and he even dresses up for weddings.
Max (Remaxazillion) is very fancy and very proper. He'd wear a tuxedo if we let him.
Kabong (Kabob) is a proper gentleman: polite, dignified, and strong-willed.
Ninja (Cowboy Ninja) is our True Black fella. His favorite thing to do is eat, and his second favorite is finding something to eat.
Neo (Neowise Reflection) missed the memo on how alpacas are supposed to act around people. He's officially White, though the Georgia clay disagrees. If you visit and notice Neo in time-out, now you know why.
Bob joined us in 2023 with his son, Mack. He's still a little wary of people but has warmed right up to treats.
Mack is Bob's son, and our goofball. He's just along for the ride, and at 200 pounds he's also our biggest boy.
You may notice some fabulous mullets this season. Shearing happens every spring, in late March and early April, so the boys are rocking their party-in-the-back look until then.
COME VISIT
Farm experiences are available every weekend in October and the first weekend of November. Come meet the boys in person (just keep an eye on Neo).
FOR THE GARDENERS
Alpaca beans (that's alpaca manure) make a wonderful, gentle soil amendment. You can order them online and we'll ship up to 2 lbs by USPS, or pick up a full bag right here at the farm.
We're working on a big build-out here on the farm, and we can't wait to share some exciting new things with you soon. Stay tuned!
Thanks for being part of our farm family.
