There's a nip in the air most mornings now here in Douglasville, and the boys have noticed. Their coats are filling out for winter, and nobody enjoys a cool Georgia fall morning quite like an alpaca wearing a full fleece.
Herd Spotlight: Kabong
Kabong is our Dark Rose Grey gentleman. He waits his turn at the feeder, minds his manners, and would never dream of crowding a visitor. Just don't mistake polite for pushover. When Kabong decides he isn't going somewhere, he isn't going, and we've learned it's best to ask nicely and give him a minute.
Who's Watching the Boys
If you've been out to see us, you've probably met Amalia, our Maremma. She's a guardian dog, and she isn't here to keep people out. Her job is keeping the boys safe, and she treats it like the most important work on the farm.
Fall Visit Days Are Filling Up
Fall visit days at our Douglasville alpaca farm are going fast, and once a date is booked, it's gone. We'll be adding a few more soon, but those tend to go quickly too. If you've been meaning to bring the kids, the grandparents, or just yourself out to meet the herd, now's the time to grab your spot.
For the Gardeners
Fall is a smart time to get beans into your beds. Spread a layer now, work it in lightly, and let the winter rains do the rest. Think of them as a soil amendment: a slow, steady improvement rather than a quick boost, so your ground is in better shape by planting time. We'll ship small orders of up to 2 lbs, or come by the farm in Douglasville and take home a full bag.
Save the Date: Sunday, November 1
We've mentioned that things have been busy behind the scenes. Here's a little more: circle Sunday, November 1 on your calendar. We've been working on something we think you're going to love. Sign up for our newsletter so you hear about it first. That's all we're saying for now.
Thanks for supporting a small, veteran-owned family farm in Douglasville, Georgia. It means more to us than we can say.
